KATHMANDU: Police have said that Samraj Tamang (43) and his brother Suryaman Tamang (36) were killed over a dispute over the construction of an irrigation canal.
Samraj and Suryaman of Kimgtangbesi in Myagam-4 were found dead on May 13. Their bodies were found hidden under a pile of rocks on the banks of the Kimtang River. The two had left the home on the night of May 12. Both died due to gunshot injuries. The two were killed using a country-made muzzle-loading rifle, police say.
Dhan Bahadur Tamang and Suryaman Tamang from the same village have been arrested for the murders. The two, who had absconded after the incident, were arrested from Khaniyabas-5 of Dhading on May 14.
Police suspect the incident occurred after a dispute between the two sides over the construction contract of the irrigation canal escalated.
