Nepse down 4.15 points; turnover drops to Rs 2.8 billion

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index slipped by 4.15 points on Tuesday to close at 2,740.25 points, amid subdued investor participation and declining trading volume.

According to NEPSE data, the benchmark index fell by 0.15 percent compared to the previous trading session.

Investor activity remained weak during the session, with total turnover amounting to Rs 2.80 billion. The daily turnover stood at Rs 2,807,446,361.53, making it the lowest since October 26, when the market had recorded transactions worth Rs 2.36 billion.

A total of 5.64 million shares changed hands during the session, sharply down from 9.77 million units traded in the previous session. Likewise, the number of transactions dropped to 42,176, the lowest since November 10 last year, when the market had logged 39,948 transactions.

Market breadth remained negative, with 176 companies posting losses, while 82 advanced and 12 remained unchanged.

Among the gainers, AHL surged by 11.42 percent to close at Rs 566 per share, followed by SYPNL, which gained 4.62 percent, and HBLD86, which rose 4.34 percent.

In terms of turnover, SYPNL topped the chart with transactions worth Rs 277.9 million, followed by RIDI with Rs 98.5 million and SAHAS with Rs 95.8 million.
