KATHMANDU: The government has appointed Narayan Datt Paudel of Surkhet as the Inspector General of the Armed Police Force (APF) Nepal.
A cabinet meeting held on Monday decided to promote AIG Paudel to the rank of IGP, according to Government Spokesperson and Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Sasmit Pokharel.
Paudel replaces Raju Aryal, who is taking retirement later this week.
Paudel joined APF Nepal from Nepal Police when the paramilitary force was formed in 2001. He was promoted to DSP of APF in the same year, SP in 2008, and SSP in 2013. Paudel was promoted to DIG in 2018 and AIG in 2022. While serving as the AIG, he oversaw Human Resoruces, Border Security and Operations department of the APF.
IG Paudel has also served in UN missions in Liberia and Kosovo.
