KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Paudel has postponed the summer session of the Federal Parliament called for April 30.

Issuing a statement on Thursday, the Office of the President said

Earlier, the President convened the session on Wednesday as per Article 93(1) of the Constitution of Nepal, 2015, on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers. “The session has been deferred for the time being due to special reasons,” he added.

The government sent a letter to the Office of the President requesting the postponement of the session. A Cabinet meeting held earlier in the day had decided to postpone the session until further notice, according to a minister.

The session had been expected to deliberate on pre-budget discussions and other key agendas ahead of the annual budget.

The government is constitutionally required to present the budget for the upcoming fiscal year in Parliament on May 28.
