KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Home Affairs has directed the Nepal Police to probe the burning of books written by Chinese President Xi Jinping in Morang recently.
Issuing a statement, the ministry said on Tuesday that it had directed the police and the District Administration Office, Morang, to probe the incident and hold those responsible accountable.
The Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu had sent a note verbale to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, requesting to probe the burning of ‘The Governance of China’ written by President Xi at Manmohan Technical Institute in Morang. The foreign ministry then wrote the home ministry for necessary action on the incident.
A Biratngar-based news portal, Live News Raftaar, had reported the incident on Saturday night. It had also uploaded videos of the incident on its official Facebook page. The portal, however, has taken the video following a request from the local administration.
