pKATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has submitted a list of 57 nominees for members of the House of Representatives under the proportional representation (PR) system.
The party secured 125 seats under the first-past-the-post (FPTP) system, while it has been allotted 57 seats based on the PR votes it received in the elections held on March 5.
The list includes 17 from the Khas Arya cluster, 16 from Indigenous Nationalities, nine from the Madhesi cluster, eight from Dalit, four from Tharu, and three from the Muslim cluster.
According to the party, the list includes 48 women and nine men.
The Constitution of Nepal, 2015 requires parties to ensure at least 33% representation of women in the House of Representatives. Since only 13 women were elected from the party under the FPTP system, the majority of the names in the PR list submitted by the party to the Election Commission are women.
