Minister for Home Affairs Om Prakash Aryal
KATHMANDU: The government has decided to recommend to the President the appointment of Om Prakash Aryal of Gulmi as a member of the National Assembly.
A Cabinet meeting held on Sunday made the decision.
Aryal is currently serving as the Minister for Home Affairs in the Sushila Karki-led interim government.
Nineteen members, including one appointed by the President, of the upper house completed their six-year terms on March 3. Eighteen of them have already been elected to replace the outgoing members.
Nepal’s upper house consists of 59 members—eight elected from each of the seven provinces and three appointed by the President on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers.
One-third of the members complete their six-year terms every two years.
