Govt decides to form Gen Z Council

KATHMANDU: The government has decided to form a Gen Z Council.

Government Spokesperson and Minister for Home Affairs Om Prakash Aryal said the decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday.

The meeting also decided to accept a grant assistance of four million US dollars (approximately Rs 532 million) from the Chinese government for the House of Representatives elections scheduled for March 5.

Similarly, the cabinet has approved the financial investment model of the Budhigandaki Reservoir Hydropower Project prepared by the Ministry of Energy, Irrigation, and Water Resources.

The cabinet also decided to appoint Dr Dibakar Bhatta, a district judge at the Kathmandu District Court, as Chairperson of the Consumer Court Kathmandu, while continuing to discharge his responsibility as the district judge.

According to Aryal, the cabinet also decided to designate district courts to handle and settle cases related to offences under Section 140 of the Insurance Act, 2022.

The cabinet also decided to approve the list of public holidays for the new Bikram Sambat calendar that starts from mid-April. Similarly, the government has announced a three-day public holiday from March 4 to 6 for the House of Representatives elections.
