KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has stated that the country has moved forward in a position to conduct the elections on the scheduled date.

Speaking at an all-party national dialogue titled “Collaboration for Peace, Stability and Prosperity”, organized by the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) in Kathmandu on Wednesday, she said continuous dialogue and cooperation with political parties and youth had created the conditions necessary to conduct elections as scheduled.

Karki also recalled that the current government was formed to lay the foundation for good governance and hold the House of Representatives elections on March 5. “A series of political changes in the country failed to improve people’s livelihoods. A lack of professional, business, and employment opportunities, as well as the absence of fairness in conduct and behaviour, led to the Gen Z movement of September 8 and 9,” she added.

Karki also said that the government has been exercising restraint in managing the abnormal situation following the Gen Z movement to prevent further unrest and maintain peace and security.
