KATHMANDU: Located 3,210 meters above sea level in Myagdi district, Poon Hill is one of the most popular viewpoints in the famous Annapurna Range.
Trekkers returning from the Annapurna Circuit Trek, those heading to the Annapurna Base Camp, or others doing the Ghandruk-Ghorepani-Birethanti loop, make sure to visit this beautiful place and enjoy breathtaking views of the Himalayas. It can be reached after an easy hour-long hike from Ghorepani.
Visitors starting the hike in the dawn are rewarded with a sweeping panorama of snow-capped peaks glowing in the first light of sunrise. Lying to the west side is the formidable face of Mt Dhaulagiri (8167m). Going eastwards, one can see peaks like Nilgiri (7,061m), Annapurna ( 8,091m), Annapurna South (7,219m), Himchuli (6,441m), Machhapuchhre (6,993m), Mardi Himal, Annapurna II, and Lamjung Himal, among others.
