KATHMANDU: Minister for Finance Rameshore Khanal has complained that the government is facing non-cooperation within the country in its efforts to hold elections on time.
Inaugurating the Birat Trade Expo in Biratnagar on Wednesday, Khanal said the current government is firmly committed to holding elections on March 5. “Even neighboring countries have confidence that the polls will be held on time. However, attempts are being made within the country to undermine the process,” he added.
Khanal warned that the failure to hold the elections could lead to unimaginable consequences. “However, the government is determined to conduct the polls at any cost,” he added.
The finance minister also said that the current government has laid the groundwork for the next administration to be formed after the March 5 election by taking a number of steps related to corruption control and good governance.
