KATHMANDU: The Bibeksheel Sajha Party has decided to merge with the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).
Issuing a statement on Wednesday, the party described the move as a strategic step toward strengthening Nepal’s alternative political movement.
The decision was endorsed unanimously by the party’s Central Committee meeting held on Wednesday.
Party Vice Chairperson Prakash Chandra Pariyar said the growing need for credible alternative politics, coupled with the recent Gen Z uprising, accelerated the unification process between the two parties. “This merger carries a national message. It is with a commitment to fulfilling the political responsibility of becoming the leading force in the elections and delivering results that meet the Nepali people’s strong aspirations for development, prosperity, and good governance that this unification has been undertaken,” he said in the statement.
According to the party, the pending technical aspects of the merger will be finalized soon based on a high level of understanding between the leadership of both parties.
The two parties are formally announcing the merger at the City Hall, Kathmandu, on Sunday.
