Nepse stretches rally to third session; turnover drops to Rs 5.82 billion

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) extended its gains for the third straight session on Tuesday, edging up 5.32 points to close trading at 2,655.99.

The benchmark has added a total of 95.7 points over the past three sessions.

The market experienced sharp intraday swings as it slipped to an intraday low of 2,637.92 before rebounding to an intraday high of 2,658.19. It eventually ended the day 0.2% higher.

Despite the positive close, the market breadth remained weak as prices of 125 scrips declined, 122 advanced, and 10 remained unchanged. Turnover dropped to Rs 5.82 billion, with 11.97 million units traded through 102,642 transactions.

Bandipur Cable Car & Tourism Ltd topped the turnover chart with Rs 269.99 million worth of shares traded. Himalayan Reinsurance Ltd and Ngadi Group Power Ltd followed with turnovers of Rs 240.49 million and Rs 200.20 million, respectively.

Sector-wise, four trading groups ended the session in the red while nine posted gains. The Hotels & Tourism sub-index emerged as the top performer, rising 1.41%. The Trading sub-index, however, recorded the steepest decline of 1.33%.
