Two RPP general secretaries boycott Central Committee meeting

KATHMANDU: Two general secretaries of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) have boycotted the party’s Central Committee meeting, submitting a four-point demand.

General Secretaries Dhawal Shumsher Rana and Kunti Shahi informed Chairperson Rajendra Lingden through a letter that they would not be attending the meeting scheduled for Wednesday.

Lingden had called the Central Committee meeting for Wednesday. However, the two general secretaries refused to participate, citing the need to preserve harmony and cooperation within the party.

In their letter, they have outlined four proposals aimed at resolving internal disputes and ensuring transparency in party affairs. They include fixing a date for the party’s general convention as required by the statute, withdrawing decisions related to expulsions and disciplinary actions made in violation of party rules, maintaining balance in the formation of the election committee and observer teams to ensure a fair and transparent convention, and forming a dispute resolution committee having two former party chairpersons to facilitate effective party management.

The two general secretaries have also criticized the chairperson for unilaterally adding central committee members without prior consultation or information sharing within the central committee. “Even though most of the party’s 43 departments have been inactive, we refrained from making public comments on the chairperson’s decisions to avoid harming internal unity,” they said in the letter.
