Satish Kumar Singh
KATHMANDU: Madhesh Province Chief Minister Satish Kumar Singh is seeking a vote of confidence on Tuesday.
Singh is scheduled to take the floor test in the Madhesh Province Assembly meeting at 1 pm.
The Janamat Party leader decided to seek a trust vote after his own party, as well as coalition partners Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN-UML, withdrew their support from his government.
These three parties, which have 57 seats in the 107-member Madhesh Province Assembly, have already staked a claim to form a new government in the province under Krishna Prasad Yadav of NC.
Parties need 54 seats to form a government in Madhesh.
Earlier, Singh had announced his resignation through a social media post on September 8 at the height of the Gen Z protest. However, he did not send a formal resignation to the Office of the Province Chief and has refused to step down.
