KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will raise the agreement reached between China and India to conduct border trade via Lipulek during his talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping during the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit.
Oli is visiting China from August 30 to September 3.
“The agreement between the Indian and Chinese foreign ministers on Lipulek goes against Nepal’s sovereignty. This matter will be raised in high-level meetings with the neighboring leaders on the sidelines of the Shanghai Forum,” Government Spokesperson and Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, said.
Gurung added that Nepal has already sent a diplomatic note through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expressing its objection to the India–China understanding on using the Lipulek route for trade.
