KATHMANDU: The election for the position of chairperson of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee of the House of Representatives has been scheduled for Wednesday.
The Federal Parliament Secretariat announced the election by publishing a notice on Monday.
The position has remained vacant since Ram Hari Khatiwada resigned as the chairperson of the committee amid controversy over the ‘cooling off period’ provision in the committee’s report on the Federal Civil Service Bill.
As per the understanding reached within the ruling coalition, Nepali Congress (NC) will field a candidate for the vacant post. The NC is yet to finalize its candidate.
Meanwhile, opposition parties are preparing to field a common candidate for the position.
