BHAIRAHAWA: Former Prime Minister and Chairperson of Nepal Samajbadi Party (Naya Shakti), Dr Baburam Bhattarai, met with Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane at the Bhairahawa prison on Thursday.
Dr. Bhattarai, who is in Bhairahawa to attend a two-day training for party leaders and cadres of Lumbini Province, organized by his party, took some time from the event to meet Lamichhane.
Lamichhane is currently in Bhairahawa prison.
According to Bhattarai, the two discussed the formation of an alternative political force, good governance and the country’s path to prosperity. He said the meeting was driven by personal goodwill toward Lamichhane.
“It is not appropriate to comment on the court’s verdict,” Bhattarai said. “But so far, the charges against Lamichhane have not been proven. He is an elected representative of the people, and there appears to be no risk of him fleeing.”
