KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) boycotted House proceedings on Wednesday, demanding the resignation of Ramhari Khatiwada, chairperson of the Committee on State Affairs and Good Governance of the House of Representatives.
Speaking during the session on Wednesday, Manish Jha of RSP said since a special investigative committee had raised ethical questions against Khatiwada regarding the “cooling-off period” provision in the Civil Service Bill, he should resign. He argued that Khatiwada cannot evade responsibility simply because his name is not explicitly mentioned in the investigation report.
Jha also stated that the earlier investigation into the visit visa case had concluded that it involved human trafficking, which reinforces the validity of the concerns raised by the party.
RSP lawmakers continued their boycott of the House on Wednesday, reiterating their demand for the formation of a parliamentary investigation committee on the visit visa scandal.
