Chief Minister Baniya, eight ministers sworn in

KATHMANDU: Bagmati Province Chief Minister Indra Bahadur Baniya and eight members of his cabinet were sworn in on Tuesday.

Province Chief Deepak Prasad Devkota administered the oath of office and secrecy to Baniya and the new ministers during a ceremony held in Hetauda.

Of the eight ministers, six are from the CPN-UML and two from the Nepali Congress (NC).

NC sources said Baniya was unable to finalize all ministerial appointments from his party due to internal disagreements.

Ministers from CPN-UML:

  • Dinesh Chandra Devkota – Minister for Physical Infrastructure

  • Bharat Bahadur KC – Minister for Forest and Environment

  • Madhusudan Poudel – Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development

  • Bindu Shrestha – Minister for Industry, Commerce, Land and Administration

  • Kiran Thapa Magar – Minister for Health

  • Jayaram Thapa – Labor, Employment and Transport

Ministers from Nepali Congress:

  • Krishna Kumar Tamang – Minister for Water Supply

  • Shivaraj Adhikari – Portfolio yet to be assigned
