BUTWAL: Santosh Pandey from the Loktantrik Samajwadi Party (LSP) Nepal has been appointed as a minister in the Lumbini Province Government.
Chief Minister Chet Narayan Acharya has appointed Pandey as the Minister for Youth and Sports. He will be sworn in at 3 pm on Monday.
Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning, Dhanendra Karki, told Himal Press that the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers has already notified the Office of the Province Chief about Pandey’s appointment.
LSP Nepal had earlier withdrawn its support to the government during deliberations on the provincial budget. The party has three members in the Lumbini Province Assembly. Pandey is the party’s parliamentary leader in the provincial assembly.
Acharya’s cabinet currently has five members, each from CPN-UML and Nepali Congress, and one from Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP).
