UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli
KATHMANDU: Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli has said that his discussion with party leader and former President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Sunday was cordial.
According to Rajendra Gautam, chief of UML’s Publicity Department, Oli said in the Central Committee meeting on Monday that the dispute surrounding renewal of Bhandari’s party membership will be resolved through dialogue.
Oli also directed leaders to move forward with the goal of establishing UML as a ‘decisive national force’.
According to Gautam, Oli presented the party’s position on recent political developments, the ongoing attacks against UML and strategies to counter them. “The party chairperson made it clear in the meeting how UML is facing systematic attacks and what strategies are needed to resist them,” Gautam told reporters.
Oli also instructed party leaders and cadres to strengthen party structures and move ahead with ideological clarity. “There are currently no ideological disputes in the party. The chairperson has directed all to stay away from minor disagreements and move ahead in unity,” Gautam added.
UML is preparing to hold its Statute Convention in Lalitpur on September 5-7. The Central Committee will discuss and approve statute amendment proposals that were earlier approved by the party’s Secretariat and the Politburo.
According to Gautam, Vice Chairperson Bishnu Prasad Paudel will present the statute amendment proposal endorsed by the Politburo in the Central Committee meeting. Likewise, General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel will brief the meeting on organizational proposals, including ward-level campaigns, membership renewals, awareness drives against regressive forces and conventions of local committees, to be presented in the Statute Convention.
