KATHMANDU: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has arrested three officials from the Bhaktapur Land Reform and Land Revenue Office for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 2.45 million for land ownership transfer.
“Acting on a tip-off and complaint, a team deployed by the CIAA Head Office arrested the Office Chief Kumar Acharya, Nayab Subba (non-gazetted officer) Deepak Prasad Adhikari and Office Assistant Tikaram Raut from the premises of the Bhaktapur Land Reform and Land Revenue Office based on a complaint,” CIAA said in a statement.
The officers had allegedly sought the amount for issuing a land ownership certificate for 14 ropani and 4 aana of land in Changunarayan Municipality, Bhaktapur in the name of tenants.
Along with the cash, CIAA officials also seized four mobile devices from the three suspects.
“Further investigation into the case is underway,” it added.
