KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chief Whip Mahesh Bartaula has said that there is no need to reach an agreement with other parties on the visit visa controversy, as an understanding has already been reached with the main opposition CPN (Maoist Center).

Speaking to reporters on the Parliament premises on Friday, Bartaula said that the investigation into the visit visa case would move forward as per the agreement with the Maoist Center, and that the government would not go around making separate deals with individual parties or leaders.

“The agreement with the Maoist Centre will be enough to resolve the issue,” he added.

Since the main opposition plays the leading role in a parliamentary system, he said, the House is moving forward in line with the understanding reached with the Maoist Center.

Bartaula also criticised Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmakers for staging a stunt by wearing blue ribbons and black clothes, even though the government has already expressed commitment to addressing the issues raised by the party. He accused the RSP of failing to adhere to parliamentary decorum and argued that the conduct of its lawmakers would damage the entire party.
