KATHMANDU: Opposition parties have decided to continue their demand for the formation of a high-level investigation committee or commission to investigate the visit visa controversy.
A meeting of the opposition parties in the House of Representatives, chaired by CPN (Maoist Center) Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal, has decided to demand the formation of a commission to study all the controversies related to visit visas since the enactment of the Labour Act in 2017.
Manish Jha, acting spokesperson for the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), said after the meeting that the opposition decided to express a collective commitment to resolve the visit visa issue permanently.
The meeting also arrived at the conclusion that the home minister must support an independent investigation into the country by stepping down.
The opposition parties have also demanded that the Prime Minister take responsibility for this issue in parliament and express a commitment to address it.
Leaders of the Maoist Centre, RSP and CPN (Unified Socialist) attended the meeting.
