KATHMANDU: Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari has returned to Nepal after completing a 10-day visit to China.
Bhandari led a delegation of a government minister and CPN-UML leaders to an event organized by the Chinese Association for International Understanding.
During her visit, Bhandari held meetings with Chinese Vice President Han Zheng and Liu Jianchao, head of the International Department of the Communist Party of China, among other Chinese leaders.
Talking to reporters at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Damodar Bhandari, described the 10-day visit as highly successful. He said that the visit strengthened the longstanding friendship and historical ties between Nepal and China, revitalized bilateral agreements and served as a goodwill mission.
The event saw participation from representatives of 60 countries. UML’s Foreign Department Chief Raghubir Mahaseth and leader Karna Thapa, and others, were in the delegation.
