KATHMANDU: Nepal Police have arrested Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Nepal Chairperson Kamal Thapa during the ongoing pro-monarchy protest in Kathmandu.
Police detained Thapa while he was leading a procession toward Baluwatar, a restricted area, on Sunday afternoon.
Pro-monarchy forces have been staging demonstrations in Kathmandu since Thursday, demanding, among other things, the restoration of the monarchy.
Thapa, a vocal advocate for the monarchy, has been actively participating in street protests recently. His party, RPP Nepal, has supported the ongoing protest organized by the Joint People’s Movement Committee for the Restoration of Monarchy.
