LUMBINI: Police have arrested Kamlesh Sharan Chaudhary, chairperson of Shuddhodhan Rural Municipality in Kapilvastu, for investigation into a case of cybercrime.
Chaudhary surrendered before the police after the Rupandehi District Police issued an arrest warrant for him, according to DSP Suraj Karki, the spokesperson for the District Police Office, Rupandehi.
A case of cybercrime had been lodged against him at the Area Police Office, Butwal. He has been accused of violating the privacy of a young woman, who was a victim of sexual exploitation, and her family.
The district court had issued the arrest warrant on May 15. After the warrant was issued, Chaudhary went into hiding for a few days.
Chaudhary is currently in the custody of the Area Police Office, Butwal.
