KATHMANDU: Narendra Deo Bhatta and Kumar Mani Thapaliya have been appointed as members of the Executive Committee of the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB).
They replace Milan Devkota and Madan Acharya who recently completed their term.
Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pandey, made the appointments from a shortlist of four candidates recommended by a Nomination Recommendation Committee led by Indu Ghimire, Joint Secretary at the ministry. Tourism entrepreneurs Bibhuti Chand Thakur and Basu Dhungana were the other members of the committee.
Bhatta, who operates Heritage Tours and Travels, is a veteran tourism entrepreneur. Currently serving as the General Secretary of the PATA Nepal Chapter, he is also a former Chairperson of the Himalaya Rescue Association. Thapaliya, meanwhile, is the President of the Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA).
The NTB Executive Board consists of 11 members: five from the government and five from the private sector. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NTB serves as the eleventh member and also acts as the member secretary. The Board is chaired by the Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation.
Ram Prasad Sapkota, Rishiram Bhandari and Rajendra Lama are the other private-sector representatives in the NTB’s Executive Committee.
