KATHMANDU: Agitating teachers and police clashed in Kathmandu on Sunday.
Police say that the incident occurred on the New Baneshwar-Bijuli Bazaar road section after teachers tried to breach the restricted area.
Eyewitnesses say police tried to disperse agitating teachers using water cannons. Pictures shared on social media show police baton-charging teachers. In response, teachers also hurled stones at police.
After the incident, the protesting teachers changed slogans against the government and sought the resignation of the Home Minister.
School teachers have been protesting in Kathmandu for the past 26 days, demanding, among others, the immediate passage of the School Education Bill.
