Arzu dismisses government change rumors

KATHMANDU: Minister for Foreign Affairs, Arzu Rana Deuba, has brushed off rumors of government change.

Talking to reporters at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) on Friday, upon her return from Bangkok, Rana said that there is no possibility of a government change at present.

“I am aware of rumors about government change that surfaced while Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba was in Bangkok. Deuba traveled to Bangkok for a routine health check-up, not for any political meetings,” Rana said. “Deuba held a telephone conversation with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli from Bangkok on Thursday after he heard about the rumors.”

Rana also said that she chaired a special meeting of least developed, landlocked, and small island developing nations during the 81st session of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) in Bangkok. “I also informed delegates about the Sagarmatha Dialogue, which Nepal is hosting in Kathmandu from May 17 to 19, 2025, and extended invitations for high-level participation.”
