
KATHMANDU: Nepal concluded round-robin stage of the Uganda Women’s T20 Quadrangular Series with a six-wicket victory over Hong Kong on Friday at the Entebbe Oval in Entebbe, Uganda.
Batting first, Hong Kong posted 104 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Nepal successfully chased down the target, scoring 105 runs in 19.3 overs with six wickets intact.
Shanzeen Shahzaad top-scored for Hong Kong with a solid 54 runs off 47 balls, while Kary Chan and Yasmin Daswani contributed 16 and 14 runs, respectively. The rest of the Hong Kong batters failed to reach double figures.
Nepal’s bowlers put up a disciplined performance, with Rajmati Airee leading the charge by claiming three wickets. Captain Indu Barma took two wickets, while Puja Mahato and Ishwori Bist chipped in with one wicket each.
In response, Nepal got off to a strong start, adding 53 runs for the first wicket. Samjhana Khadka anchored the innings with a brilliant 47 off 43 balls. Captain Indu Barma contributed 18 runs, and Puja Mahato added 20 runs to the total. Roma Thapa and Bindu Rawal remained unbeaten, each scoring four runs to guide Nepal to victory.
Emma Lai and Kaur Mahekdeep took a wicket each for Hong Kong.
Nepal lost both of its matches against Namibia in the series, while it won one each against Uganda and Hong Kong.
