KATHMANDU: A fire broke out in the office building of Likhu Pikey Rural Municipality in Solukhumbu district on Sunday.
The office building at Kaflechaur in Ward-3 caught fire on Sunday afternoon, according to District Police Office, Solukhumbu.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Dwarika Prasad Ghimire said the two-story building was destroyed in the fire caused by an electric short circuit.
The mud and stone building owned by Rudra Bhadur Khatri housed the rural municipality’s technical section, storage room and the unit office of the Prime Minister Employment Program.
A police unit from Chaulakharka Police Office doused the fire with the help of locals. “The fire that broke out with an electricity short circuit spread after a LPG cylinder exploded,” Ghimire added.
Solukhumbu Chief District Officer said there were no human casualties from the fire. He, however, added that important government documents of the rural municipality were destroyed in the fire.
