Nepse closes 7.26 points lower; turnover drops to Rs 7.92 billion

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index returned to losing ways after two days of gains, closing 7.26 points lower at 2,678.47 points on Thursday—the last trading day of the week.

Although the index gained initially, reaching an intra-day high of 2,697.19 points, it lost momentum and eventually ended the session 0.27% lower.

Unit prices of 162 scrips declined, while 76 advanced and six remained unchanged during the session. NRN Infrastructure and Development logged the highest turnover of the session, with Rs 341.47 million worth of shares traded. Next were CEDB Holdings Ltd and Radhi Bidyut Company Ltd, with turnovers of Rs 268.93 million and Rs 202.93 million, respectively.

Among trading groups, three posted gains, while the remaining 10 ended the session in the red. The Finance sub-index logged the highest gain of the session, rising by 1.88%. The biggest loss came from the Development Bank sub-index, which was down by 0.95%.

Securities worth Rs 7.92 billion were traded on the bourse on Thursday, down from Wednesday’s turnover of Rs 8.61 billion. A total of 15.87 million units of shares were traded on Thursday through 78,835 transactions.
