Nepse down 10.98%; turnover drops to Rs 6.96 billion

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index lost another 10.98 points, closing at 2,677.32 points on Monday.

Unit prices of 161 scrips declined during the session, while 77 advanced and six remained unchanged.

With this, the Nepse index has extended its losses into the fifth straight session. Over the past five sessions, the Nepse index has shed 52.68 points.

Nepal Republic Media Ltd logged the highest turnover of the session, with Rs 244.47 million worth of shares traded. Next were CEDB Holding Ltd and Saptakoshi Development Bank Ltd, with turnovers of Rs 153.8 million and Rs 145.34 million, respectively.

As usual, hydropower stocks dominated the daily turnover, with Rs 3.06 billion worth of shares traded. Development Banks and ‘Others’ stocks were next, with turnovers of Rs 641.67 million and Rs 563.99 million, respectively.

Among trading groups, two posted nominal gains, while the remaining 11 posted losses. The biggest loss came from the Manufacturing & Processing sub-index, which was down by 2.07%. Next were the Finance and Hydropower sub-indices, with losses of 1.24% and 0.76%, respectively.

Daily turnover fell to Rs 6.96 billion on Monday, with 14.44 million units of securities traded through 74,864 transactions.
