KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index dropped a nominal 4.45 points, closing the penultimate trading day of the week at 2,711.45 points on Wednesday.
Although the benchmark index posted gains initially, reaching an intra-day high of 2,725.5 points, it fell thereafter and eventually ended the session in the red.
Unit prices of 122 scrips declined, while 113 advanced and seven remained unchanged. Nepal Reinsurance Company logged the highest turnover of the session with Rs 337.63 million worth of shares traded. Next were Himalayan Power Partner Ltd and Saptakoshi Development Bank Ltd with turnovers of Rs 271.46 million and Rs 222.08 million, respectively.
Among traded groups, five sub-indices posted gains, while eight ended the session in the red. The biggest gains came from the Finance sub-index, which was up by 5.67%, while the Trading sub-index logged the biggest loss of 1.42%.
Securities worth Rs 8.9 billion were traded on the bourse on Wednesday through 90,752 transactions.
