KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has named Dol Prasad (DP) Aryal as its Acting President.
A meeting of the party’s Secretariat, which convened virtually on Monday, took the decision.
According to an RSP leader, the party decided to name Aryal as the Acting President after a charge sheet was registered against President Rabi Lamichhane at the Kaski District Court on Sunday.
It has been learned that Aryal was chosen for Acting President by Lamichhane himself.
“Among two vice-presidents, the senior-most by age or the vice-president appointed by the president shall work as acting president in the president’s absence,” Section 24(3)(2)(D) of the RSP’s constitution states.
Lamichhane’s positions as RSP President and a member of the House of Representatives were automatically suspended with the filing of the charge sheet on Sunday. The Federal Parliament Secretariat, however, has yet to publish the notice of his suspension.
