KATHMANDU: Chief of Army Staff General Ashok Raj Sigdel returned to Nepal on Sunday after concluding his official visit to India. The Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Pradeep Jung KC, welcomed General Sigdel upon his arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport.
General Sigdel left for the official visit of India visit at the invitation of the Indian Army Chief, General Upendra Dwivedi, on December 11. He was conferred the honorary rank of General of the Indian Army by Indian President Droupadi Murmu at a ceremony held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on December 12.
He also attended the final parade of officer cadets at the Indian Military Academy in Dehradun as the chief guest. Nepal Army Officer Cadet Prabin Pandey was recognized as the Best Foreign Trainee among 35 international cadets at the academy.
General Sigdel held separate courtesy meetings with India’s Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Chief of Defense Staff General Anil Chauhan, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, Defence Secretary and Foreign Secretary, among other Indian officials. He also visited key strategic military facilities under the Indian Army’s Southern Command, including an Air Force station and Tata Advanced Systems.
