CoAS Sigdel off to India

KATHMANDU: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Ashok Raj Sigdel left for New Delhi on Tuesday on a four-day official visit to India at the invitation of Chief of Army Staff of Indian Army General Upendra Dwivedi.

Before his departure, Sigdel was accorded a Guard of Honor at the Nepal Army headquarters. Assistant COAS Lt Gen Pradip Jung KC saw him off at Tribhuvan International Airport.

General Sigdel’s spouse Nita Chhetri Sigdel, the President of the Nepali Army Wives Association, is a part of the nine-member delegation to India.

According to a statement issued by the Nepal Army, General Sigdel will be conferred the rank of the Honorary General of the Indian Army by the President of India during an investiture ceremony on December 12.

General Sigdel is scheduled to meet with senior Indian authorities and will serve as the Reviewing Officer at the Indian Military Academy’s passing out parade.

Lt Gen Pradip Jung KC will serve as the officiating COAS during General Sigdel’s absence.

CoAS Sigdel will return home on December 15.
