KATHMANDU: The Kaski District Court has allowed police to keep Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane in custody for another four days.

A single bench of District Judge Himal Belbase issued the order on Sunday. Earlier, police had sought permission to keep Lamichhane, who is also a former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs, in custody for 13 days.

Lamichhane has been in the custody of Kaski police since October 19 for an investigation into the misappropriation of cooperative deposits. He has already been transferred to Rupandehi, Kathmandu and Chtiwan districts to record his statement.

The Parsa District Court has also issued an arrest warrant for Lamichhane and 13 others to investigate cooperative fraud allegations. They have been accused of transferring deposits from Sano Paila Cooperatives to Gorkha Media Network.

Lamichhne served as managing director of the company. He resigned from the company to start RSP in 2022.
