KATHMANDU: A recommendation committee formed by the government to name office-bearers for two transitional justice-related commissions has shortlisted 40 names.
According to Khamba Bahadur Khati, the spokesperson for the committee, eight names have been shortlisted for the post of chairperson and 32 for members of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) and the Commission of Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons (CIEDP).
Khati said that Dilliraj Acharya, Achyut Prasad Bhandari, Bijaya Sijapati, Bishwa Raj Koirala, Sudip Pathak, Mahesh Thapa, Sher Bahadur KC, and Kashiraj Dahal have been shortlisted for the position of chairperson.
The government formed the recommendation committee under former Chief Justice Om Prakash Mishra on October 18. The committee has been given two months to recommend office-bearers for the two commissions.
The committee had received 156 applications for the position of chairperson and members.
