POKHARA: Kaski District Court has granted a 15-day remand extension for Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane who has been accused of misappropriation of cooperative deposits.
A single bench of Kaski District Court Judge Himalal Belbase authorized police to continue their investigation while keeping Lamichhane in custody for an additional 15 days.
Previously, on November 10, the district court had extended remand by 13 days.
District Police Office, Kaski, is investigating allegations that Lamichhane misappropriated funds from Pokhara’s Suryadarshan Cooperative by transferring them to Gorkha Media Network where he was serving as the Managing Director. Lamichhane has been denying his role in the transfer of funds.
Along with Lamichhane, the court also approved 15-day custody extensions for former DIG Chabilal Joshi and Lila Pachai.
Kaski police will now transfer Lamichhane to Kathmandu, where he is facing allegations of misappropriation of funds from Swarnalaxmi Cooperatives, to record his statement. DIG Joshi has already recorded his statement in Kathmandu.
Meanwhile, Chitwan District Court has also issued arrest warrants for Lamichhane and Joshi.
