Transitional justice law one of the important achievements of govt: Oli

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has termed the consensus among parties on the long-pending transitional justice law and subsequent authentication of the Bill to Amend the Enforced Disappearances Enquiry, Truth and Reconciliation Commission Act one of the achievements of his government

“We have succeeded in bringing the remaining work of the peace process close to its conclusion,” he said, unveiling the achievements of the 100 days of the coalition government. Oli said that authentication of the crucial transitional justice bill sent a positive message to society that has endured prolonged conflict.

The CPN-UML Chairperson also urged critics of the government to stop daydreaming about the collapse of the coalition government of historically important parties like the Nepali Congress (NC) and UML.  “Some people have told me that frequent government changes have confused the bureaucracy which is key to implementing the vision of the government. This makes them worry about stability rather than focusing on work,” Oli added.

Oli also said approximately 1.5 million dairy farmers received their pending payments after the new coalition government came to power. “Sugarcane farmers have also received long-pending subsidies. Likewise, the government also released Rs 800 million to the Nepal Insurance Authority for agricultural and livestock insurance claims, while pending dues of Rs 6.75 billion owed to construction entrepreneurs have been cleared,” Oli added.

The Prime Minister also said chemical fertilizers needed for winter crops have already been arranged.

“Although natural disasters temporarily slowed government work, the administration is now regaining momentum and moving forward,” he added.
