25 parties registered for local body by-polls

KATHMANDU: Twenty-five political parties have registered with the Election Commission (EC) to participate in the local body by-polls.

In a notice, the EC asked political parties to apply for participation in the local body by-elections between September 26 and October 2. Twenty-six parties submitted applications in response to the notice, according to the EC. The EC registered 25 of them, including the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), as per the Political Parties Rules, 2017.

This will be the first participation of the RSP, which was formed six months before the 2022 polls, in a local body election.
