Relief distribution has already begun: PM Oli

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has announced that the distribution of relief funds to disaster victims has already begun.

Speaking at a press meet on Tuesday, he said that search and rescue operations would be completed within two days. “The injured individuals would receive free treatment, and necessary measures have been taken to prevent and control potential diseases that may spread after the disaster,” he added.

Oli also said that the process of restoring damaged services such as drinking water, roads, telephone, and electricity has been initiated.

According to a press release presented by Chief Secretary Ek Narayan Aryal on behalf of Prime Minister Oli, 224 people have lost their lives due to the disaster.

The release added that 24 people are missing, 158 are injured and 4,331 people at high risk have been rescued and moved to safe locations.

The disaster has severely affected 21 districts, including Kavre, Lalitpur, Dhading, Kathmandu, Sindhupalchok, Sindhuli and Makwanpur.
