Oli victorious in Jhapa-5 by more than 28,000 votes

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma has been reelected to the House of Representatives from Jhapa-5, defeating his opponent by more than 28,000 votes.

While Oli received 51,611 votes, his closest contender Khagendra Adhikari of Nepali Congress got 23,231 votes.

This is the septuagenarian leaders has won all but one election held since the political change of 1990. He won the 1991, 1994 and 1999 elections from the Jhapa-6 constituency. Oli lost to Most candidate Bishowdip Lingden in Jhapa-7 in 2008 Constituent Assembly (CA) election.

He, however, won the 2013 CA election from Jhapa-7 and 2017 and 2022 elections from Jhapa-5.
