KATHMANDU: The Rahughat Hydropower Project (40 MW) in Myagdi district has achieved 80% progress.
The project is being built by Rahuganga Hydropower Limited, a subsidiary of the Nepal Electricity Authority. It is funded by the federal government, the Nepal Electricity Authority, and a concessional loan from the Export-Import Bank of India’s line of credit. The project is expected to begin generation by mid-July 2025.
According to the NEA, the 6.2 km long tunnel and the dam’s civil structure are complete, with gates and equipment ready for installation. Additionally, the desander construction has achieved 30% progress. The main civil structure of the powerhouse is also complete, and the installation of electromechanical equipment is underway. The project will have two units of 20 MW each for power generation.
