KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is leaving for New York on Friday, leading a Nepali delegation to the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, PM Oli is scheduled to address the UN General Assembly on September 26. The theme for this year’s session is ‘Leaving No One Behind: Acting Together for the Advancement of Peace, Sustainable Development and Human Dignity for Present and Future Generations’. He will also attend a reception hosted by US President Joe Biden on September 25.
Oli is also scheduled to address the conference on the Global Coordination Bureau of Least Developed Countries as its chairperson.
Additionally, he will address high-level meetings on existential threats posed by sea-level rise and antimicrobial resistance.
Likewise, PM Oli will deliver a keynote speech on “Nepal’s Journey of Democracy and Economic Prosperity” at Columbia University. He is scheduled to speak at the John F Kennedy Jr Forum at Harvard University on “Nepal’s Perspective: From Transitional Justice to Climate Justice.”
Oli will also meet UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and other heads of state and government.
