KATHMANDU: The government has decided to hold the local body by-elections on December 1.
A cabinet meeting held on Sunday took the decision, according to a minister.
Earlier on the day, a delegation of the Election Commission had met Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and recommended that the government hold the by-polls on December 1.
A total of 41 positions, including chiefs of two District Coordination Committees, are lying vacant across the country. The by-election is being held to fill these positions for the remainder of their terms.
