LUMBINI: Lumbini Chief Minister Chet Narayan Acharya has secured a vote of confidence.
A total of 70 province assembly voted in favor of the motion of vote of confidence tabled by Acharya in the meeting of the Lumbini Province Assembly on Tuesday. Eleven assembly members voted against the proposal, according to Speaker Tularam Gharti.
Acharya received the support of province assembly members from his party CPN-UML, Nepali Congress, Nagarik Unmukti Party, Loktantrik Samajwadi Party, Janamat Party, Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP), JSP Nepal and one independent member.
Assembly members from CPN (Maoist Center), CPN (Unified Socialist) and Rastriya Janamorcha voted against the motion.
Four assembly members of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) did not participate in voting.
Acharya was appointed Chief Minister of Lumbini Province on July 22.
